The Beltrami Island State Forest has over 700,000 acres of forest with a wide variety of animals and birds including: Great Gray Owl, Northern Hawk Owl, Boreal Owl, Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Three-toed Woodpecker, Connecticut Warbler and 16 other breeding species of Warblers.
