The Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village is open daily from 1-5 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day. The village consists of an impressive 19 buildings; including a museum, Victorian house, 2 railroad depots, schoolhouse, church, blacksmith shop, machinery and automobile building, and 7 log houses. Admission is $5 per person with children 12 and under accompanied by an adult admitted free. No cost for Pennington County Historical Society Members. The village is located at 825 Oakland Park Road, Thief River Falls, MN 56701.
Each of the 19 buildings on display at Pioneer Village has its own unique place here. Each has been donated to the Society to help preserve an historical representation of its original purpose, of course, but beyond that, the rooms hold carefully crafted and interpreted displays and exhibits. These have been organized to give our visitors a chance to do more than read about the history in a book or encyclopedia or watch a documentary or movie about it.
While visiting their website, you can click on the picture of each building and learn more about what it has to offer and about its place in the history of Pennington County and Northwest Minnesota. Click here to check out that page: http://pvillage.org/Buildings
